Found about 1/2" of water in the driver's side floorboard after a heavy rain. The door seals are in good shape and there is no indication of leakage from the third brake light. Any ideas what might cause this and how to prevent it? Photo below was taken after I swept most of the water out. Thanks!

Third brake light almost always leaks to the passenger side for some reason, same with heater core, so if not the door seal I'd look at the windshield?

+1 ^^^

I would use a hose and run it on the wind shield trims to see if thats the source of the leak

The wind shield sits on a ridge around the opening, thats where its sealed/glued
But all around that ridge is a trough/valley
The trim is attached in this valley
Water will sit in the lower corners of the valley and start the rusting of the metal if the paint is gone
If it "rusts through" then it will leak into the cab

If hose test shows you it is leaking there then you can pull the trim and have a look
You can try silicone but only real fix is to pull the windshield and repair the metal

Hey jcwhidby, hope you've sorted out the source of leak. If you have not already done so, I strongly recommend you check to see if water got under your flooring. Under the vinyl flooring is a thick underlayment that once damp, never properly dries. It can lead to both mold and corrosion of your floorpan. Unfortunately I learned this the hard way, by finding out the floorpan of the '07 I bought in July was almost rusted through.

I have on 08 with a water leak also. Replaced windshield with no cure. Found a body seam under the floor mat where the firewall panel, the floor pan and the kick panel pan all come together. The sealer there was leaking causing the same puddle you show in top of the mat. Sealed rhe inside then went underneath the cab behind the tire wheel well and resealed the flange where the three panels meet on the outside. There us a lip there so be sure to seal the edge of the lip.
