Hey everybody. well here's a little bit bout my Danger-Ranger

1999 Ford Ranger 3.0 v6 5spd XLT step-side all stock besides a K&N Cold Air-Intake.

Wanting to start getting my truck into a decent mud-bogger. need info and basic set-ups.

Im 17 years old work for 7.25 an hour and bout between 20-30 hours a week on top of school. im good with hands on and know my truck. i can do most fab work on my truck.

Im pinching pennies BTW as well.....

Thanks,
James

you have a 4wd right?

You'll need 2k+ to lift it.

You can do a 3" body lift for a couple hundred and toss 33's (35's if you trim and crank the t-bars massively)

Suspension lifts are (cheapest options) superlift and a used rcd if you can find one.

Solid axle swap is the other option (not as cheap as you'd like to think, I expected to do it cheaper than the superlift kit and I've almost hit 2k into the build, got to spend no more than 5hundo more to make that a reality)

If you have a 2wd solid axle swap is the best bet I'd think.

update- im wanting to fit a set of 30's on my truck. i was thinking of a 2 or 3inch lift suspension and then add like a 1 or 2inch body.

What would be better or look better?

2inch suspension and 2inch body *

3inch suspension and 1inch body *

Would this work? or is a 97 different then my 99

97 is def different set up then 99, you could prob just crank your torsion bars and fit some 30's no problem, at 0-cost its a pretty good way to go

well if i could crank torsion i would. but i have a 2WD and i thought 2wd dont have torsion bar. or does mine??

level it two inches in the front. three inches of block lift in the back. then if you want a two or three in bl.

not too pricey right there

Didn't notice the forum :icon_twisted:

I'd still say a solid axle swap/4x4 conversion... a two wheel drive will never be a "decent" mud bogger. Unless you run massive high horse, paddle tires, and do mud drags only.

But that's just my opinion.

It shouldn't unless its an Edge. Just get either 2in coil springs or get some lift spindles. With 30's, and a 2in lift would look fine. A body lift will give you too much wheel well space. Unless you want to upgrade to 31's or 32's. Just my $0.02.

a solid swap would cost more than 2k... you can get lifts for a few hundred bucks. wtf

they were talking about the 98+ 4x4 lift those are about 2000. Unless you have an edge you have coil springs......so exact same truck as mine. I have 3 in spindles. beltech 6400s, explorer leafs and 8.8 all for around.........800 or 900 including the 31in tires. cheack out my threads and that will give you an i dea of what you will get with 3-4in of lift ( http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?p=692860 ). then i also have a 1.5in coil spacer that i haven't put in but after that i would have more than enough room for 33s. and if you wanna do mud, not just puddles doo yourself a favor and get a 4x4. the amounts of lift you want to do will give you way too much for 30s. you will fit 32s-33-s with 3in. suspension and 1-2in body since i can fit that with just 3in suspension. and fyi anything over 2in of spring or coil spacer lift will need lift upper control arms.
