I didn't know about this race until I ended up driving this road the day before the race in 2018.

That second one is a bad ass video, hard to watch it real close. He scored up a lot of roadkill in grasshoppers too, good thing it wasn't in jackrabbits ;)
I went across parts of West Texas at 140 in a Roadrunner W/ a 440 in the late 60s and there were more jackrabbits then I guess, it's a wonder we didn't hit one

I would be fun to be open up and see what our vehicles can do. I don't know if the 2019 has the speed limiter like the older models do or not. If it does, it would be a bit of a fun killer.

I bought a motor from a 1991 Ranger salt flats race truck. It was passed thru several hands before I got it. The original builder is passed on. I couldn't find any speed records associated with it but records from back then aren't online. Here is a pic of the truck on the salt.

I wonder if Salt Flats has any local organizations associated to it that might could be contacted and asked for help in finding information such as that. Maybe even a local library?
Altho, the last time I saw salt flats was from Cloudcroft in the late 60s and there wasn't much around there at that time

Josh, your memory of the late 60s is remarkably clear.... Sorta, um, counterintuitive.

No, it hasn't changed much really, I've always gotten mixed up between Salt Flats and White Sands :D
White Sands has real missiles and Salt Flats merely manned projectiles ;)
