Want to change the front and rear suspension on my 2004 4x4 4.0 Ranger.

Is there a go to kit off of Amazon or somewhere that has the upper and lower control arms, shocks, and anything else that is recommended to change. Sway bars maybe? New to working on trucks so any suggestions are welcome. I have a 2003 parts truck but would prefer to go new if it's at all price competitive. Like say all in for $500 or so just to get it road worthy. It is fine now but the control arms are shot. If I already have it all apart would now be the time to consider a disk conversion on the rear brakes? Parts list available for that?

There are vendors that sell entire front end kits...

I just don't trust many of the parts that get sold that way. So I just buy individually what I need.

Last front end parts I bought were Moog. Those still aren't what they use to though.

You'll get many opinions on shocks...

I put my truck on KYB MonoMax shocks last time and have been happy. Although I had a front blow out... they replaced it under warranty.

I will be doing mostly normal/rough road driving since PA has terrible roads and I also want to be able to go desert crawling out west. Something that can do both decently would be nice.

Well... I like my KYB shocks. I was a distributor for KYB back when I had my shop... I've had really good luck with them.

You could also consider Bilstiens... its a favorite here on the forums.

Skyjacker also has a faily new offering in a mono tube shock. BlackMax I believe. I'll likely do a set of those when I do shocks on the Bronco II... they offer them in different lengths and its lifted 6 inches.

I had considered a mild lift on mine as well but that seems like more work and tuning to do and it's not exactly like it's dragging the ground right now. There's also the consideration that this is a road trip so I'll be driving PA to SW NM for it.

It's pretty easy to get a little lift out of the SLA trucks.

Turn up the torsion bars a little... it does have its limits though. Good heavy duty rear springs and a 1 inch shackle has mine sitting on 32's.

Road trip? What does that have to do with it? Just did 3,900 miles in 15 days in August.

The road trip is relevant because I will be going about 2000 miles and I don’t want something so stiff as to make it a horrible drive but I do also want it to be able to not be so soft that I feel like I’m bottoming out every time I hit a little bump in the desert.

I wasn't clear. I was referrimg more to your reluctance to lift it.
