hey guys i was looking for headers and came across pacesetter headers. now they list them as 70-1118 88-89 Ford Ranger, Bronco II, 2.9L, 4WD, exc. column shift". what will fit my 87 2.9 4wd automatic??? what is different about the 87 as to the 88???:icon_confused: ive noticed alot of companies list these numbers why is that??

i just installed the pace setter headers on my 88 2.9 5sp. from what i could tell holding them up to my buddys ranger same setup but with the a4ld it looked like there would b major issues with the shifter linkage, so i would assume thats why u can't use them on the autos... like dave said, check out jba, but you probably won't like the price. btw, have fun with those rusty manifold bolts. i broke all but 2 after soaking them for days with pb blaster and heating with a torch...

I put pacesetter on my 87 2WD 2.9 5-speed. I had to modify the Y pipe to make them fit right and add a inlet for the sensor.
They fit well except for the Y pipe but I had to use washers with the header bolts to tighten them correctly.

Dont matter my truck doesnt need smog it lives in the sticks of SD county

Yes, JBA headers are CARB approved.

JBAs are the way to go, although they are a bit pricey. I wouuld stay away from Pacesetter. They are cheaply made, dont fit, rust, and leak. I will never own them again. On the other hand I never had them on a Ford, maybe someone else has a good experience.

I wish I would have read this first. Got a set coming fedex now for my 89 B2
