Bought an Emerson 32" TV for my room. Got the insurance. Have not activated it yet. The TV very often blacks out while using HDMI. The screen will go black then come back to picture then go black and then ill get the Nat races. Turn it off and back on and its good. Sometimes it does this every 5 minutes. Sometimes once a day. Ussualley I just switch to the next HDMI port and its good for 2-3 days.

Was just messing with the HDMI cable and noticed that by wiggling it the picture comes and goes. I have the cheapest HDMI cable I could find. Maybe it just doesn't fit right.

Any who any one ever return anything on Walmart insurance plan? How well did it go?

If it's within their return policy? Swap it out for a different brand.

Yes some HDMI cables are built cheap and have wonky contacts...but the TV shouldn't require the use of expensive parts to make it work. Plus playing musical plugs sounds more like a bad solder joint.

Cheap HDMI cables are just as good as shitty ones, as long as its getting a connection. Unlike analog cables, where quality really does matter, a digital cable is just sending 0s and 1s.

Screen going black would seem to be a lost connection...

How long have you had this TV? If its only been a short time you should be able to return it. If its been under a year, you should have a manufacturers warranty on it.

If its been over a year, register your insurance plan, and return it with that. You should get store credit for the value of your TV to go buy whatever you want (At least thats how it works in Canada.)

I haven't used one from Walmart (Although I have bought a few) but I have used ones from GameStop, BestBuy, and XSCargo without any problems.

Had it under a month. I'm gonna hook it up via RCA and see what happens. Now that I think about it. I've used the HDMI cable on the vizio up stairs with out any problems.

Wallmart has a great return and warranty option. I just bought another 20 inch computer monitor and I did not like the background color. It was more of a greyer color then the black color of the one I just replaced that was so old. They said get go pick out another monitor and we will plug it in for you to view first. They said if you don’t like that then we will refund your money. The one they plugged in for me was perfect and I went home with it.

I have bought a few 42 inch HD 1080P TV’s from them. Samsung, Vizio and RCA, and I always buy the extended warranty. Only one TV had an issue three years later and the warranty covered it. A tech came out and found the issue with some faint lines on the left hand side of the screen. He ordered the new front screen and when he got it in three days he came out and replaced the screen. It is still being used in our game room and works as new.

By the way…the new Vizio HD 42 inch with the surround sound is incredible!!! Man!!…That sound is great!!! It is like being in a movie theater. You hear all the background noises when watching a TV show…like somebody taping a pencil on the desk in the background in a scene on the set of the show you are watching. I never heard that before on our other TV sets. Great quality.

My ex-coworker bought a above-ground pool and got the warranty. 9 months later it had a pinhole. He called the insurance company, and they sent out a new one, no questions asked, told him to keep the original. We patched the old one... 2 for 1!

The problem you have is neither a connection nor a cable problem. Think of hdmi as a usb connection. Your tv and other device have to talk to each other first before signal can be sent. If one speaks spanglish and the other english they may be able to communicate but it will be poorly resulting in signal drop that you are experiencing.

Not much you can do, HOWEVER!!! I had this problem when watching tv at my mothers house. The signal went cable box>stereo>tv and had the same exact problem. Come to find out the cheap reciever I suggested she NOT buy couldn't handle HD signal that well. The fix was to route the signal cable>tv>stereo which fixed the problem.

Ditch the cable or satellite service and get yourself a longe range antenna. I have an Emerson and Vizio, both receive HD quality programming though RG6 coax for free. No HDMI problem with no HDMI cables. Anything you can't pickup on the antenna, stream it off the internet. Vizio has a nice smart TV with built in WiFi, works nice.

These are the things I like to hear. As long as I keep the cable pushed in one direction it works fine. RCA cables also seem to work fine. And its not the service provider. Cuz I don't have one. Its just DVDs and Xbox video gamed.

If you've had it under a month, I would take it back and see if Walmart wont just replace it, that way you can save the warranty for the new TV.

That sounds like a bad solder connection to me.

Most of your lower budget TV's are now made by a company called Funai. They do stuff for Emerson, Sylvania, Dynex, Sansui, Memorex, and a few others I can't think of. I actually own two 37" TV's made by them with the markings for Sylvania and Dynex. They are what you'd expect from a cheap TV: cheap. I also have a 32" Olevia in my bedroom that has a far superior picture to the Funai built TV's.

I really felt that Olevia was the law when it came to it's picture. Then back during March Madness, the local TV station gave away four Samsung 55" LED 3D and 480hz Auto-motion TV's. Well, I was one of the lucky winners. Let's just say there's a new Sheriff in town. What a beautiful picture.
