My wife helped build this fun Baja bug that we later gave to my little sister. She never got it painted left it the original tan color and just had the small dings I repaired spayed over in tan. She gave it back to me after two years. She drove it to work daily and took it off road at least twice a month. When she got pregnant she and her husband bought her a new car and my wife and I got it back and we started to use it a lot. It was a fun bug and never broke down on. Their was no rust on it and the suspension was modified by me years ago. I was very light and super fast.
I used to pull up to muscle cars and give them a good run. They could beat me of course, but they had to catch up to me first. I always got a thumbs up from the muscle car crowd when ever we took it to the car and truck shows and swap meats. Those are still good times. I sold the baja bug to a friend of ours two years ago. He live up in Ocala, Fl. He painted it last summer (orange and white). He told me he leaves his '04 Rubicon out side and parks the bug in the garage. Old age?
69 Baja bug in progress. The fun part was putting in the head lights. I had to modify the stock headlights to stop the bouncing motion they get since they are not a snug fit.
A very fast Empi 1641 cc 125 hp motor.
Safety seat belts and racing seats to hold your ass in place.
Only one area really had to be fixed on the door (small ding) and then I replace the front windsheild since it had that frost look around the edges most old bugs would get.
