all,

I've done a few things since my last update. Most noteably of which, I painted the wheels black a la Cvar. At this point the car is pretty much finished. :yahoo: All that's left is to repair a worn shift rod bushing, put in a radio, and reupholster the seats. That'll probably happen this winter once I'm done driving it for the summer. I'm going to be putting it in a VW/Porsche car show at the end of this month and hopefully I'll get some sort of recognition. Anyway, here are the pics and a link to a youtube video of a walk around:

Make an epic video.

You gonna delete the windshield wipers?

I still love the bugs and the early Porsches since I have owned them and loved them still today. I like the orange paint. Good luck with the show. We have them once in a while here.

I love it!

In Effingham IL every year they have a VW fest. you should check it out, it is just a mile off of I 70.

Not much of one for cars, but I'd rock that kind of bug!

Thanks all. Yeah I've heard of the vw fun fest that mid America motor works puts on. I wanted to go this year but I didn't have the time. Maybe next year I can make the trip. If I can figure out how to make an awesome video I will. Thanks again for all the compliments. I wish it got this much praise at car shows.

I hear you on the car shows bit. As for me, I'm having "interesting times" on the Vanagon I got from a neighbor. First was the rear brakes. Next was the clutch and transaxle. I had to dive back under to replace the release bearing that got trashed due to a stuck slave cylinder. Now I have a leaky clutch master cylinder and no money to replace it.

Yeah, that happens with old beat up cars. you don't know what you have until you get into it and then they become money pits. haha

Have fun polishing all those awards & trophies -

I'd be happy to get just one. On a side note, I painted the white walls black. you can't even tell that they were painted. I just hope the paint lasts. I'll probably turn the tires around eventually and rebalance the wheels.
