What steps are involved in installing a volvo dohc head on a 1995 2.3 ranger motor.

the volvo head swap (of folvo swap as its been dubbed) has been pretty well documented but i dont think there's much info on TRS about it. the 2.3 turbo guys are the ones that have put this swap through the ringer. i know that there's an oiling issue that's gotta be taken care of, you can either modify the head or the block. aside from that, i think the only other thing is getting a timing belt and tensioner figured out. i wish i could be of more help.

Kunar, you are about on the dot. However, the amount of work to modify the head only is astronomical. It much easier to modify the block, which then only requires a hole to be drilled and tapped for an oil line on the head.if you really want to do this I can find a link for you to a guy who has the entire build documented. If you are going to do this for power, don't bother. Its no more powerful than a stock 4 plug head is capable, actually a little less at high valve lifts. And the cost of cams, pistons and machine work alone is going to run you close to $1500
