i have windows vista home premium 64 bit
the computer specs are:
evga 780i mobo
dual 9800gt's
1tb hdd
Q6600 CPU
4 gigs of DDR2 800

every day, i get an error from vista that my graphics driver has stopped responding and has recovered, the code it gives me is NVLDDMKM, i can use the computer online all i want, with no issues, until i start gaming (COD4 MW, and CRYSIS) then it starts lagging, there is a connection error, and the program completely crashes

i was wondering if any one could give me a hand with this error, if you've ever had it, and how it was fixed

Have you tried updating the drivers to the video cards? Is it an SLI type setup? sure you got it all put together right?

Try uninstalling drivers then reinstalling. If nothing else works google search the error (should be first step actually).

The new driver for this card does not seem to resolve the issue (That's what I've read anyways) That being said you should still update the driver you can't always trust what people say on the internet :icon_thumby:. I also read that if you disable the User Account Control (UAC) feature in vista it resolves the issue.

1. Launch MSCONFIG by from the Run menu
2. Click on the Tools tab. Scroll down till you find "Disable UAC" . Click on that line.
3. Press the Launch button.
4. A CMD window will open. When the command is done, you can close the window.
5. Close MSCONFIG. You need to reboot the computer for changes to apply.

If this does not work you can re-enable UAC by selecting the "Enable UAC" line and then clicking on the Launch button.

Warning Disabling UAC impacts the security functions with in Vista.

User Account Control (UAC) forces users that are part of the local administrators group to run like they were regular users with no administrative privileges.

it is an SLI set up, i am sure everything is installed correctly, because i use the computer every day with out issues, untill i start playin games, the drivers are as updated as i can find on the windows, and nvidia websites, ill try disabling the UAC when im home and see if that works

thanks for the help
