Vietnamesium lawn mowers

What are you protesting?
Everything.

Mostly raising our sewer/water rates. They added a camera system so the sewer guy can sit home and monitor the systems instead of going to the treatment plant. So for one guys convience everyone had 30-50 bucks added to their bill. It was only supposed to last 3 years. Its been 6 and we still pay it. They dont like the clippings cause it plugs the filters at the plant when the grass goes down the storm drains

When i moved here i paid 130 bucks for water, sewer, and garbage every 3 months. Now i pay 80-100/month.

I feel you on the speeding thing.

My street is part of a short cut to the big town north of me. I get people pulling off the state highway doing 60 onto a narrow one lane road.

Whenever I’m crossing the street or backing into my driveway I like to do it obnoxiously slow.

Our road is 35 mph. Almost nobody does that. Most people fly through over 45 mph. A few come through at 20 mph and rubberneck everything. There’s a little jog in the road just past my park house which has resulted in a number of people ending up in the ditch, or smashing into the guard rail. Oh, and one tanker truck that wasn’t even supposed to be on our road plowed up 10-12’ of the end of the driveway to my shed… which was all crushed concrete and modified limestone 2’ deep. Now there is a cubic yard of concrete poured behind the head wall…

People speed everywhere. We're all guilty of it, I certainly am anyways. My biggest areas of speeding are those roads that are posted between 25-35 because... i have decent judgement when it comes to such things and I PAY ATTENTION. I'm not gonna run anyone over.. I'm not gonna go off the road.. if I see pedestrians or kids playing in their yard or whatever I WILL slow down/move over/whatever.. but IMO a lot of the roads posted that slow up here are due to extreme over caution or simply because it's an affluent neighborhood/area of town... and people bow (or merely accept legal bribes) to/from the affluent.

In the more affluent, classy, brick laden neighborhoods of Portland (maine) you'll see signs like this...

You know where you DONT see these signs? In every single other part of town populated by people who don't make 1,000,000$ a year..

Fckem.

##edit- the signs i refer to in Portland do not have the time restrictions. They're all day long.

Theres a difference between speeding and reckless.

Its 25mph thru here...if someone is running 30 or 35 oh well. But 45-50-55 is ridiculious. Espicially considering there is often the neighbors under 10 yr old kids/grandkids out playing. Yes they stay out of the road...but still.

Hell i almost got smashed by some idiot doing exactly what i described a few months ago...was backing my trailer in the driveway and he was on his phone driving his shitbox S10. I heard the exhaust and was lucky enough to be pretty straight so i nailed the go pedal as he went screeching by with the brakes locked. I got out to have a discussion and he ran off. Of course.

Granted my F250 woulda made mincemeat out of his truck...but still

Yes... huge difference between speeding and wreckless. I'm with you.. some people drive absolutely way TF too fast..

I don’t know. I’ve never seen a push mower before with a horizontal shaft engine into a vertical shaft gearbox to a drive belt before….

For old geezers like me, the first powered lawn mowers were all made that way. Well ok, the exception were reel type lawn mowers converted with horizontal shaft Maytag engines.

This. It can be a real problem for motorcycles.

My town has you blow the leaves onto the side of the road so the vacuum truck can collect them sometime in the next 3-4 months… but a little bit of grass is the issue.

i would go back to used mowers.

i always found them at the local swap meets for cheap.

the best mowers ended up being about 15 dollars and were spray painted red and the motor was spray painted black. no idea why though.

i would like to find one of those riding mowers that were only around 30 or 32 inch decks and were made for going through fence gates to get the back yards of small middle class homes. i have a 53" deck rider and its a pain behind the garage and around the travel trailer because of the fence.
yeah… my Husqvarna is 48” deck and doesn’t fit through my gate. I feel your pain.

Sounds like someone got a really good deal on a crate of horz shaft engines….
I think it’s the same engine on their generators and snow blowers.

Well… Amerisun USA that is responsible for powersmart appears to be out of business. Guess now I need to figure out if this has interchangeable parts with another manufacturer

New gas mowers suck real bad. Really wonder why they went to the trouble of converting a horizontal shaft engine to vertical... maybe there is some gear reduction in there or something? Either way what was wrong with a good old straight vertical shaft?

I'd go take a drive through a few alleys and see who has a stack of old mowers in the backyard, then see if they'd sell you one and just fix it up. Surely you can round up an old Briggs or Tecumseh powered mower and it'll serve you well for years... those things were very hard to kill.
I think…. Because the flathead on my Craftsman burns more oil than gas, and a new engine is not available from craftsman….. I’m going to buy a predator 173cc from harbor freight…. All the other parts I need to rebuild it (like the drive system) are available from craftsman

I've read of other people doing that swap. I also haven't read about having much of a problem doing it either.

Predator engine from harbor freight and be done with it, I put a predator on my 30 year old snapper in 2016 and it hasn't skipped a beat.

This is the part that failed on the powersmart. It can’t be fixed and it’s so new that a replacement hasn’t been thought of yet. Guess this engine will end up on a blown up snow blower.

Second pic
this is my new (used) husqvarna 625 I paid $50 for and spent 3 hours yesterday cleaning the carburetor and changing the spark plug and adding a fuel cut off and a fuel filter. Runs and cut good…. I’m about $70 total in it… and maybe $60 more by the time I find a bag and side discharge chute for it

third pic
This is the Pulsar 150cc that I can’t get a recoil starter for. The one that’s on it is from my craftsman but it failed. Although I think I found a hand crank for it …. Maybe
