vice grips.

i don't really know how many i have....these are just some that were handy.

what i do know is that without them,i'd be unable to do half the things i do.i only buy original name brand vice grips,i've noticed all the others(even what are 'good' names for other tools)just don't seem to measure up.

here's to a tool that makes so much possible....or at least easier.:icon_cheers:

i love my vice grips..

carrying the 3 20 foot sticks of steel 144 miles from my house, i used vice grips to clamp the 2 in and 6 in on top of the 10 in wide stuff so it wouldn't slid.. of course i used some tie downs to. but come one. vice grips are great.

Yea Ive got boat loads too, I have 26 pairs of those 11sp c-grips alone.

hey gwaii,, theres a tool out there thats pretty handy, its called a vice grip. you should get a couple and try em out! you will probably get the hang of them after some practice. pretty good rigs!

um,, wait a minute

oh.. yeah,

carry on..

Too bad they are not made in the US anymore.

They sold out to Rubbermaid, they closed the plant in DeWitt Nebraska (where they were invented in the 20's) and now import them from China.

I have some of the Kobalt version (sold at Lowe's) that are pretty damn good units, although I don't know where they are made (I think they may be made by Irwin). They've never failed me yet. We've had some of the HF POS's at work, and man do they suck!

But hell, I only have one pair Gwaii. Spread some love man!

My wife broke off the handle to our can opener and our electric was broken so she was like uh oh, what do we do now. Vise grips to the rescue! more leverage now too.
vice grips.

What do you think Gwaii? Homemade tools worthy? LOL

one of my favorite tools of alltime! they are lifesavers

I've got a bunch of them, too......from the 4" size up to the c-clamp versions. Used to carry at least 4 pairs of the 6" c-clamps when I was doing drywall & drop ceilings in TX. Got two pairs of some hybrid c-clamp/sliding bar clamp ones that are great for welding.

Also like the one that goes on a drill press table, for a material hold-down.

vice grips.

Sheetmetal edge tools, rivet dimplers, A/C tubing crimpers.....ah, it's good to be a tool junkie!

I have a growing collection of them. One of the handiest ones I have I got as an old used one that someone trimmed a bit of the end of the jaws off and ground a notch in it. Soon as I saw it at an estate sale for like 50 cents I had to have it. Took it home, tested it on a piece of oxy-act welding rod and it fit perfect. Now I have a holder for oxy-act welding rod so I can use the filler rod right down to a tiny nub and not burn my hands. (Yes, I do dabble in the old-school welding art - I can lay a better bead with it than a stick welder so I still like using oxy-act when I can.)
