I was having a shuddering on take off, turns out that the nuts on the transmission mount, one was missing, and one was almost off. Must of been that way for awhile. It looked like the carrier bearing was worn out so I replaced that but it seems to be eating the rubber up. It might have been a bad bearing when I put it on, because with the driveshaft off the truck I couldn't hold the bearing assembly and turn the drive shaft by hand. Since putting it back together I've had a pretty intense vibration right at 35mph in 4th gear that goes until about 55 then starts to smooth out but doesn't go away. It's feels like a teenager's bass boosting speakers. The rearview mirror shakes, and you can feel it in your chest. It's gotten worse over the past week. As soon as you let go of the gas, it stops, no matter what speed. There has been some popping taking off, but it doesn't sound like it's coming from where the u joints are, it sounds more up where the bellhousing is. Also, there's some bucking or jerking often after I let out the clutch and then hit the gas. Sometimes it does it frequently while cruising, then not at all. If I baby it and slowly let out the clutch and gently accelerate, there's not pop and no jerking or tapping. Yesterday I noticed some rattling and tapping if I got on it after letting the clutch out. It's not lifters or rods, because it does that anyway if I get over 2k rpm, this is a very different sound, also like it's coming from the bellhousing. Inspecting the flywheel with the plate off I don't see any obvious cracks, and from what I can see of the pressure plate it looks ok, but I haven't pulled the transmission to look. I believe the bearings on the rear are going out, as the wheels have a bit of a wobble, but I don't think it's specifically the bearings or axles as it only vibrates under load, and stops immediately after letting off the accelerator. Looking over similar threads, everyone seems to think u joints are the culprit, which I plan to replace next. I'd just like some advice before I start nickel and diming it.
