It is definately the rocker arms or lifters. Ran smooth with no noise yesterday, changed the valve cover gaskets, drove it around, got gas, no leaks and no noise. Today in the morning, ticked when I started it, ticked all the way to school and back. Just put marvel mystery oil in, hopefully it will lessen tomorrow. Why would it start ticking and it never did before? It's a loud tick too, can you adjust anything on 2.9's? It is loud and gets faster as the rpms raise.

Same thing happening on my ranger too. I made a post on here about it a day or 2 ago. Maybe check out mine and see what they end up saying

Yeah oil pressure is great, I'm gonna change the oil today and put 10 40 in.

Motorcraft FL 1A, ford parts is all I use on Fords, don't worry I know Fram sucks...LOL, I changed the oil and it is a lot quieter, crazy how it thinned out in a day...

Since you changed the oil after it sat for so long, I bet the new oil helped clean up some of the sludge from it sitting. Maybe some of that nastiness loosened up and started to clog things up. Either way, looks like you've got it going.
