so i have a 95 4.0 that me and a buddy rebuilt. we installed a comp cam 410 cam, NEW cylinder heads from odyessa cylinder head, new 5.550 push rods from smith brothers pace setter headers, new bearings gaskets, timing chain, tensioner. well needless to say it has a LOUD valve train clatter.. the motor had 160k on it when it was rebuilt. i cant for the life of me figure out what it could be. i did some reading on here and most said it would be a worn rocker assembly so i bought a new one from delta cam and put it all together and it STILL clatters... so over the weekend i put in my old lifters from my old motor and guess what it STILL clatters.. the only thing i can think of now is maybe my push rods are too long now? :icon_confused: the fella at smith brother said those were the correct length rods for the 410 cam. and a bunch of guys online said that was well.. should i try using my Stock push rods? what do you guys think.... any idea or solution would be awesome to get rid of this loud annoying tick.

could there be a partial blockage to the oil passage to the lifters?sounds like they might not be pumping up.

Did you ever prime the oil pump?

Do you have oil pressure?

Did you torque ALL the rockers?

ive since put over 1k miles on the new motor. we took the valve covers off and their is oil flowing to the top of all the push rods. rockers are all torqued properly and the oil pump was primed before we started it.

Hard to say without hearing it for myself.
