Vehicle speed sensor for '86

I'm looking to add some gadgetry to my '86 Ranger. Does anyone know of a VSS from a newer model that would plug into the A4LD, and then the original mechanical cable plug into that? Or better, one that sat on the back of the speedometer?

Shouldn't be a problem

1990-1994 2WD A4LDs used dual speedo hookup
4WD would be on transfer case but same dual hook up used

Speedo cable and VSS plug in on same fitting with changeable drive gear

VSS was used for cruise control

1995 saw the end of speedo cables, so nothing newer available, hook up for speedo cable was there until 1997, but just had a VSS in there

As far as I know the A4LD used the same speedo hook up from 1985 to 1994, so dual cable/VSS from a 1993 should just plug and play in a 1986

I had looked in the technical library but somehow missed all that information. RockAuto has one for less than $10 -not worth a trip to Pull-A-Part. So here's what I'm thinking of adding:

An auto truck should have the VSS sensor already. Auto trans, cruise, and e-shift 4x4 were the big things that sensor was used for.
