I dunno if this has been posted before, thought it might be useful. They are laws concerning vehicle modifications by state in pdf files.

Well... at least on Nebraska's site... it just led to the index of every single motor vehicle deal-a-ma-bob, so it was not specific to vehicle modifications.

Some states may differ, good site to group the statutes and stuff together though, thanks.
