I think i found the cause of my p0455 code. the vapor canister solenoid had a huge gash in the plastic so i bought a new one. when i took the vapor canister out to replace it today there is also a chunk out of the corner of the canister right under the solenoid. Can this be filled with some type of silicone or something? a new canister is 60 bucks at advance auto. this is on my explorer and it has 2 canisters on it above the spare tire.

Gorilla Tape Fashion a patch of something gas resistant and tape it to the canister with a few wraps of this tape. This is a container of charcoal that the vapors gradually condense in on the way to the intake stream. Sorta like Jack Daniels aging in a charred oak barrel :D

I think I would opt for an epoxy fix. If the hole is too large for epoxy then I would cover the hole with some tin can or even broken glass! ANYTHING that would cover the hole and then epoxy to the canister.

Maybe I used the wrong Epoxy but I've never had any luck with it in this situation. It doesnt adhere well to plastics and is too brittle for normal expansion .

Well, I ordered a new one from advance auto. Using an online code I got it for 48 bucks. My wife said stop being so cheap and get one, so I did haha.

You guys don't understand. All the Rat needed was a clutch disc. Parts of it crumbled in my hands. I lost track of the expenses north of 1300$. I learned the term "mission creep" Parts, my labor was prodigious for a banged up old fart. I have bodged plenty of stuff, where I can, to save money. The Rat runs great, and does other stuff to varying degrees of acceptability. If I wanted to sell it, I doubt I could get a grand for it. :D
