after cleaning out my washer fluid pump, i turned the motor on, and let it idle, and listened to it. it sounds like valves rattling. well, im positive it's valvetrain i hear, is it imperative to get this fixed right away, eventually or not worry about it? if it does need to be done, i've only done valves before on a mower, and it still didn't end up good, not because of vlaves though. so let me know if there's anything else i need to look out for.

no need to worrie. engine noise is a trait of the duratec 2.3.. u can ask anyone on here or focus forums, the 2.3 has a tick that sounds like slop in the valve train.. many owners have put over 300k miles on this engine with no major problems

That noise is normal. The Lima 2.3 engines are worse for noise and they last 250,000 miles.

well this is a junk yard engine that i've had for maybe 10k miles. the one from factory lasted about 80k miles. although this motor hasn't given me any problems, i don't like the fact that it threw a rod after only 80k miles.

Dont worry about that mine has been doing that for a year or two

i bet it was jus defective man cause all the duratec forums on here, rangerpowersports, and ford focus forums dont have any threads bout engine failure
