valve cover question?

You will need the EFI ones and those cause problems withe the Explorer throttle body if you have the elbow. Not sure of what intake you are changing to but this is the problem I ran into with the EFI covers. Oil fill tube too close the TB, could have modified it. Have a look.

Ok, thanks. is the oil fill still functional?

This one is but only because I raised the intake up with a 1" spacer. Thought that was the eazy fix but I'd sure find a work around with the stock filler or shorten this one up. Had to add a 1" piece to the EGR tube, modifiy the brackets for the throttle linkage and the one that mounts the coil packs.
What head, cam and intake you changing to?

I am switching to edelbrock heads ported and polished, comp cams xe264 cam, a port matched gt40 lower, and the gt40 upper, 30lb injectors. The efi valve covers said they would directly bolt on, i ordered them. are those the efi series?

The ones I ordered were M-6000-C302, just got another set. I had checked right with one of the FRPP dealers and "Yes, they will fit the EFI motor". Don't think they are used to working with the Explorer elbow, no problem fitting the Mustang.
That's the same cam I just got but going with the AFR 165's and ported stock Explorer intakes. Got your Torque Monster headers ordered yet?
Dave - more pictures if you ever need them.

if you have more pictures id like to see them. As far as headers, i have ford motorsport headers, i am going to stick with these for now. Who did your port work?

Tom Moss is the only one for porting! Still to be done on the other motor. Think you're really going to be choking the motor with them FMS headers, looks like over 350 hp at crank. I don't know of any FMS headers that fit your '98-98' with those heads. Looking for pictures, anything in mind?

the headers i am going to be using are from ford motorsport, and they bolt up to my gt40 heads, so they should fit the performers also, my motor is a 96, so it has the regular gt40s, not the 40p heads. Tom moss also ported my intake.

Sounds good, not many of them headers were made for the GT-40 heads, most were for the "P" heads. Time to get working on it, need to see/hear it running!
Here's one reason the Explorer's are down on power. Them stock tube headers can't flow a whole lot.
