Valve cover gasket

Mines leaking, has anyone replaced one?

I know the egr tube interferes with the valve cover coming off... does that just unbolt or is it a bitch to get out of the way?

Take off the egr it makes it alot easier

Oh and it unbolts and tgeres a sensor plug on it

Just unhook the egr tube from the exhaust manifold and unbolt the egr from the intake manifold, there is no sensor on the egr.The big pain is trying to get the valve cover over the cam carriers because the wiring harness run overtop of and alongside the valve cover.

The egr is a valve which is controlled by i believe the computer and there most certainly is a sensor... take a peek at yours its either on the bottom or the drivers side

I've got the DPFE sensor that is connected to the egr tube by two rubber hoses and is mounted on the passenger side of the engine, mines a 98 and his 97s is the same. No sensor on the egr.

I've replaced one. Its not too bad of a job. I disconnected the egr tube from the valve. Unbolted the upper elbow of the intake manifold (I bought a felpro gasket which included a gasket for the elbow) and disconnected anything from it that prevented me from moving it to the side. Then I just slightly manhandled things around a little bit. The hardest part was getting all of the old paper type gasket off and getting all the surfaces nice and clean. All and all it took me roughly an hour.
