anyone one the procedure to adjust the valves? I am to the point of adjusting them and can not find any info on the procedure. i know i have ran across some gm's that you just tighten down and they where "self adjusting" i am not sure if that is the same here our not.

not sure i could not find any info everything thing i have read said to adjust to spec but dont give the spec. i have dealt with self adjusting one before but not on a ford

There is no valve adjustment for this engine. The only thing they tell you to do is a gap check between the rocker and stem for a certain tolerance. If your tolerance is off you gotta replace part of the valve train (most likely valves, rockers or rods). Just find out what has worn beyond limits. valve diameter and spring type are different from 2002-on but rockers and rods are the same for all 3.0's. This is because valve length hasn't changed. My 99 ranger truck is a good example of this cause I recently put 2002-on heads with 1999 rockers and rods without a hitch.

Only solid lifters require adjustment in my experience.
