It’s freezing cold today and I’ve got a vacuum leak I need to address. The symptoms are erratic idle and lean fuel mix per trouble codes. I tracked the leak using a propane torch. I know it is in the area of the pipe between the egr valve and the intake, but can't find the exact spot.
There is some permatex in the area between the pipe and intake. How is that normally sealed?
I cant really see the area between the pipe and the valve. The valve itself is a rusty mess including the bolts themselves, and again I can't really see all of the valve. I don't think I can remove the valve without breaking somthing.
Any hints? Could the valve be stuck open? If I break the valve or tube going to the intake how screwed will I be? Where would you start?
I may need to put this off for a week or so till I get a warmer day but I hate driving the truck like this.
