Vacuum Leak

Ugh, I'm on the hunt for a vacuum leak...unfortunately I don't know too much about them. I have a 5 speed and it idles at 1500 rpm, unless I start it and let it sit for a few minutes, then it goes down to 1,000 which seems normal. The moment I touch the gas it jumps back up to 1500 and stays there, I thought it was the throttle cable sticking but I've checked it and it looks like it has a little slack (the screw is all the way out) so I'm assuming it's a vacuum leak. Help!

Could be a vac leak, but more likely the IAC needs cleaning or replacing. Most common vac leaks are in the PCV hoses...

Actually my PCV hose disconnects from the mass air flow, I would think that's where the air is coming in...

Change any loose, cracked or hard vacuum lines, how old is the PCV change it regular with tune ups. One way to find a vacuum leak is with a 3 foot piece of vacuum line hold one end up to your ear and search around with the other end. You can isolate exhaust leaks also just be careful of moving or hot parts. Also pump the brakes and see if it changes the engine idle. Put a vacuum guage on manifold vacuum and see it it changes with the erratic idle. If you dont know how old the pcv is change it first I allways start out with the cheapest parts first.
