Vacuum Gauge

I would guess just use port that is plugged on the main vacuum that goes to to the fuel pressure regulator. There should be a connector under the dash that taps into the dash lights dimmer system. If you dont have instructions do a model number search for installation instructions.

I don't have the gauge yet. i plan to run from autozone that doubles as a boost gauge(its the only vacuum gauge they have that matches my temp gauge). i really havent looked at the components that come with it. where is the place you said to hook in up too.?

There should be a plugged port on the manifold where the fuel pressure regulator connects at least there was on on the 87 i helped a guy on earlier this year. If you dont have a spare nipple you can just put a tee in the vacuum line to it. The guage you get will tell you what to do if you get it new.

There should be a vacuum line diagram under the hood by the radiator. My book also shows a spare nipple.

looking through the book i found a diagram of the intake and it shows a piece called "vacuum tap." Would this be a perfect spot to connect it?

sounds right as long as it is from the intake manifold or manifold vacuum your good.
