about a year ago i swapped a 99 ex 5.0 trans and t case in to my 99 ranger. i tried to swap in a np 208 today and it was a no go. i got it to fit but the drive front drive shaft doesn't clear the tranny x member even with a clocking ring. i have a np205 but it wont bolt up to the tranny because of where the shift rail comes out of the t case.

has anyone else run into this? should i just cut a big notch out if the mount flange on tail house extension?
thank you

For the np205 you will have to cut a notch out of the adaptor spacer to have the shift rails fit. Some companies have the notch perforated in the gaskets for the transferase linkage notch just incase is there or not.

Another option is to make another or mod your transmission crossmember.

The np208 is a beast, i just got mine to fit but still have to mod my trans crossmember to clear a front driveshaft.

with ifs im very limitied on cutting the x member. i cant cut it without relocating the driver side t bar by using a lift kit or doing away with it all together by sas whitch is going down in the spring
thanks for the help

If you SAS, you will have more then enough clearance for stuff.

And this is the notch I assume you are talking about. This came on mine and is a factory thing but isnt need on mine since Im using a np208 behind my np435, which were both from the factory together anyways.

i got it in today. i made the notch twards the top so i could use a clocking ring to tuck it up out of the way. i still need to make a x member for it and make some shift levers and linkage. while i was in there i did the twin stick mod. pretty cool to do front wheel burnouts. im sure my dana 35 is pissed. thanks for the help
