Ok so I need your help here. My son who is 13 just bought a 1987 ford ranger that has the 302 swap done. When we went to get it they had to jump the starting solenoid to get it to start. Owner said that it needed a new solenoid. Motor runs strong. We get it home and we are doing this as a project for him. He unhooked the old solenoid and we went down and got a new one. I see the letters on the top posts and it has two side posts. I am not that vehicle inclined so what side gets the positive from the battery and what side gets the negative? Also where does the positive and negative for the accessory leads go. Thanks for the help in advance and I am sure I will have more questions in the future as we work on this project.

If like mine, it does not matter which side is which on the big posts. Pick the small post with the S to attach to.

Thanks for all the help now on to problem #2. So we get it all hooked up and it will only start if you jump the s side to where the battery is connected? I am figuring out all of these demons. Just so everyone knows the truck ignition cylinder will start without the key. We removed the cylinder and the key goes in fine and turns, locks and unlocks, however when we re-install it the key won't go in. How do I fix this issue also. Thanks

I don't know what transmission is in the truck but it sounds like a neutral safety switch not hooked up or done wrong
