It will be interesting to see how this plays out since the Coyote is physically huge and the Ranger's engine bay is rumored to not fit anything but an inline.

I honestly think this could happen here in the states. Perhaps not the current Ranger... but the next Gen... which includes the Bronco

It's ford so they will get everyone hyped up for something awesome and then totally let us down when they reveal the actual thing.... Eco boosts are nice but a coyote under the hood would be effin sweet. Ford needs to learn a thing or two from their greatest competition (chevy) because Chevy is doing things right and putting out packages that people actually want... I'd drive the balls off the Zr2 diesel Colorado or whatever it is. What's ford got to compete with that? The chrome bumper and a cover for your engine? HAHA way to go Ford.

Not really.

Ranger had 16% of the market, Colorado had 19% in Q3 and Ranger was up 5,000 trucks from Q2. Not a huge difference considering supply is still kinda tight on the Ranger.

Greatest competition is Toyota by a very wide margin which sold 40k more Tacomas than Ford did Rangers and they have crap for engine options.

Question is why use the diseil truck as a start? Is it reinforced where as the 4 banger gas job isnt? Other than motor and fuel system what's the difference between the gas and diseil platforms?

I've said it all along... This T6 thing is gonna blow up!

Broncos and Rangers for everyone!

The whole thing is for overseas. They don't have the gas truck over there to start with.

Europe and a lot of the rest of the world went the fuel efficiency direction over the emissions direction that the U.S. did. So, there was a strong diesel base already there. Depending on your point of view, diesel can be superior in a lot of ways. For a truck, especially an off road or over landing one, the extra range and low end torque are beneficial. European diesels are definitely more refined in a lot of ways. Unless you know what to look or listen for, you wouldn't know if it was a gas or diesel vehicle. None of the diesel rattle or soot we see here. Granted, the soot side has gotten a lot better over the past few years but you still have no question what engine is in the truck.

Watching overseas overlanders on youtube (Africa/Australia) most of their diesels sound like small peice of construction equipment. Like a small track hoe or skid loader. Not really all that quiet compared to a gas or even a US diesel.

I think I would rather have the diesel over a V8.

Wait… did I just say that?

Give me a V8 Diesel engine over a V8 gas any day. With that being said that Ranger would be very light in rear for sure.
