I have completed the 1970 Ford 302 engine rebuild, made a stand and fired it up and it sounded awesome. Now here is my issue ....... i have been looking at the radiator issue and found many recommendation on what radiator i should use, but my water outlet comes out on the passengers side which tends to lead my to think i may have a 289 timiing cover on it. does anyone have a recommendation on a different or another radiator where the lower hose outlet comes out on the passengers side instead of the drivers side. i really do not want to change the timing cover or is there another water pump that will work?

Are you looking for a reverse rotation pump set-up so you can use a serpentine belt?

this is my first time doing anything like this ...... i'm very knowledge about automotives (ase cert master / auto tech teacher), but not good at this swapping issue. i'm grateful for any info you could provide me with ...... here is what i would like to do. i would like to use the orginal power steering pump (serpentine belt driven) and purchase, find, or etc. whatever it takes to be a serpentine belt driven water pump with power steering (no a/c).

let me restart this ........... i'm putting a 1970 302 into a 1994 ranger. i would like to make this a serpentine belt drive engine. does anyone know what i should look for?

The best thing for you to do for clearance, and use a serpentine belt, would be to get an FEAD (front end accessory drive) out of a 96-01 5.0 Explorer. We just had a really great article submitted by user 85_Ranger4X4. Click this link below for that article:

Also, there are a couple of guys who have had success using an 86-93 Mustang FEAD. Either will work, but the Mustang FEAD is a bit more challenging because it has less clearance.

Going the Explorer FEAD route will save you a lot of frustration but that will include the timing cover and WP. It will also gain you enough space for various cooling options and that is another topic all together...:icon_thumby:

thanks, but i have a 28oz offset engine and the link was using a 50oz offset. i have to believe this could be a problem.

There are companies who make a 28 oz. balancer for use with a serpentine system.
