It has been quite awhile since i've posted anything here, but came across this guys site the other day and thought I'd post it up. Did a quick search, but didn't find any threads here on it. Sorry if i'm rehashing old news.

I've always had a love of racing, just about any kind of racing really, but rally racing is at the top of the list for me. Now to find a serious Rally Ranger being raced and winning is just the cats meow in my book. :icon_thumby:

Driver/Owner: Gary DeMasi races for Stroke Awareness and is a stroke survivor himself. My hat off to him. :icon_cheers:
Truck: 5.0L 1985 Ex-Cab with a shortened bed on a shortbed frame.

Interesting! Always been interested in Rally, but not aware of any local events. It's a shame he cut up that nice show truck to build it, but its his truck and he's enjoying it. I know I'm not going to do it in my Rangers. Too much abuse for something that you want to keep in shape. Since I'm building one as a street truck and want to sell the other eventually, it's probably best to keep them away from it. If I were to find a local rally racing event I might be tempted to build something to run. I've got enough spare parts/donor vehicles to put together a running drive train, would just need a body to set on it.

well you guys are kinda close to them. one in W.Va. at Snowshoe and two in NY.

check the schedule if your really interested. http://www.nasarallysport.com/main/

doubt i could actually pull it off, but the "Rally Sprint in a Box" and "RallySolo" has got my mind stirring. :icon_thumby:

Yeah WV ain't that close. If it were in state or maybe a bordering state I would consider it. NY is a 14 hour drive without stopping, and Snowshoe WV is a little over half that. Just can't do it for a sport that I don't know I can get into, and way to for to just watch.

:icon_twisted: oops, sorry Josh. i forgot about the Sandblast Rally at Cheraw, S.C. that is quite a bit closer for you, if your really interested. :icon_cheers:

well, whether or not anyone enters one of the rallies is besides the point here really, but it would be pretty cool i think to get out there and root Gary on as a spectator and maybe even go to Parc Ferme before the rally to meet Gary, show support and wish him luck. :icon_thumby:

i might try and plan a trip to my sisters next year for both Summit Point and Snowshoe.

Next time I go to snowshoe, it'll be for skiing. I don't think they'd be running rally during the middle of winter.

Might check out the Sandblast Rally, definitely doable if I can make a weekend trip of it. Honestly from the looks of rally I'd rather be there spectating behind the wheel and I just can't fund a rally car right now, don't like thinking about sponsors either.

Contacted the guy the other day. Mostly asking why he cut up such a nice Ranger for a rally rig, wasn't being mean about it just curious. Turns out it was wrecked pretty good before it made the transformation. Was also wanting to know about the grill on the truck. He replied that he wasn't planning to sale, but it was off the truck and make an offer. I'm just not sure if I want to use it on my truck or not. Even if I knew I was going to use it I got no clue what to offer. Regardless, he did say that he's hot a set of like new first gen fiberglass flared fenders that he will sale for $600. Don't know if that's a good price but if you know someone interested LMK and I'll try to put the two in touch.

$600 doesn't seem too bad, but i really don't know what they'd be worth. i'm for sure going to go to Hyperfest at Summit Point though atleast. that's the one where they give rides to the spectators for a lap or two. :icon_thumby:
