V8 Exhaust Question

My 69 Fairlane Cobra had 2.25" dual exhaust with a H pipe when I bought it in 2005. It has a near stock 428CJ engine and that exhaust work just fine. I admit, I think 2.5" pipes would be better but it runs so strong now that I can't imagine it would result in significant improvement. Probably would provide some more power at high rpm but I don't like to run that engine much over 5,200 rpm anyway.

With that in mind, I think 2.25" with dual exhaust would be the maximum you would want for a 5.0 L engine unless you plan to build it to rev over 7,000 rpm. If you do this, you can count on poor low rpm torque. For sure, single exhaust would work fine with a 2.5" pipe.

When I was getting things together my swap I looked high and low trying to find a C4. Would have made placement, header selection, etc. much easier!

I think I'm going with 2.5" single exhaust.
