V8 (302) swap in 05 sport trac

Starting the v8 swap in my wife’s 05 sport trac. Started with removing the blown 4.0 and 5r55e. Starting with swapping in a power steering line from a 3rd gen explorer (v6 or v8) and the throttle cable from a 2000 explorer 302. Just going to drill a hole in my motor plates instead of swapping my original ones. Also going to swap out the transmission lines and cruise control unit since the cables are different/longer.
got the engine in the beginning stages of being dismantled so I can re seal it. At the same time I will be installing a 4.5 inch super lift.

You may run into an issue with Digital Instrument cluster and wiring
In 2004 and up Ford changed to HEC cluster that have an internal computer, it was programmed at the factory with the engine computer, "married"
So one will not work without the other, keeps people from swapping in lower mile odometers/clusters
Ford can "re-marry" either if one breaks, and I think Forscan can as well
But the problem will be the 2000 V8 computer it can't be "married" to anything, different software, doesn't have that capacity

Analog cluster, 2003 and earlier might work but quite a few extra wires
HEC Cluster got most data it displays, like speed, tach, and temp, from the engine computer as a digital signal, not analog like before

We have run the Dakota digital speedometer/tachometer interface…. Seems to work pretty well. We actually just did this exact same type of conversion on a 2005 ranger.
