Does anyone know what I can do to get a little better performance out of my 2.9?

the running joke is swap in a 4.0, unfortunately it is long standing because it is true. there is not much you can to to the 2.9 to gain power.

find a place that can port and polish ur stock heads(the world product heads would be a better candidate), and maybe change the size of the valves, use the gasket as a guide and match the upper and loa wer intake, and cant remember the year, but 1 year has a bigger throttle body, replace the factory pellet type cats with a high flow one.
and on the top of the list replace 2.9 radiator with a 91-94 ford explorer 4.0 radiator.

some ideas, besides the basics like a tunup, maybe advance the timing a little bit etc
