Hey I have a 1986 ranger standard cab and short wheel base, 4x4, 2.9, 5speed, it has 3in body lift and 4inch suspension lift it has a set of 33inch tires on it. It doesnt have much power now havent installed gears still has 3.73. what would it take install a 302 what trans would i need manual trans please and would the axles hold up with the motor thanks for any info you can give.

as far as the axles i blew out my rear with the 2.9 on 33x12.5x15's also with 3.73 gears so you would probably want to upgrade to the 8.8 out back and a D35 at least. (almost all bolt in, you would probably have to relocate the spring perches on the 8.8)
