O.K. guys, I did not get any real answer to my question I last posted . The 3.0 engine is essentially the same motor year in and year out except for the switch-over in 1995 to a distributor-less ignition system. I have a custom machined 1994 longblock I want to use in my 1999 Ranger. other than the hole for the distributor, what's the problem bolting everything onto this 1994 motor other than the port in the block for the distributor? Thanks

it should work as long as you get a cam syncro and maybe a cam if the cut for a distributor gear is diffrent from the one on the cam syncro but i am not sure out of a 98-2000 ranger.

i think if you dont already have the block i would just go find ya a different block from a newer truck and go from there that way you know you wont have to do anything special to get the motor running and it would be safer to just get a newer block
