Used Rangers have increased in value?

So every now and then I like to go on Kelly Blue Book and check the value of my vehicles. I checked my '92 Ranger today, and was pleasantly suprised to see its worth $3500 in excellent condition. I can't recall exactly the last time I looked it up, but it was at least a year ago, it was only worth ~$1300. Its worth more now than it was when I bought it 9 years ago.

Cash for Clunkers perhaps?

I noticed mine has gone up about $1,000 on both KBB and Nada since I bought it. I'm not sure of the cause, but I'm cool with it!

Part of the value is popularity. Since the Ranger has become an extinct species in North America some are looking at it in a different light. Others are looking for a work vehicle that gets decent MPGs. They are still easy to work on and there are still so many still on the road.

Just my casual observation of searching Craiglist in a tri-state area on nearly a daily basis is that it appears they have gone up in value in the past year (or at least the price people are asking for them has gone up).

EXACTLY.

I have two trucks. My Ranger, that I bought years ago, with a dying motor (previous owner used 1 quart of oil), and redid, and an old company truck I was given (2001, GMC, SLT xtended cab stepside). I've been driving the Ranger lately, although I switch if picking up a larger load. Several people have tried to buy it. (was half tempted because one person has an old bug I've been eying)

My original plan was to convert the Ranger into the 36 Ford truck like another member here, after paying off the house. Well, when I went to get the info, I found out the company was no longer (owner died).

KBB Doesn't mean shit for ranges sadly.

My KBB is 6800 for my 4X4,

I've had it forsale for nearly 3 grand under that and not so much as the slightest interest in 2 months....

The market is DEAD because of gas prices, KBB Doesn't update often enough to reflect current market trends.
