usb in consol

On my long list of things to do, I want to install a USB receptacle in the console so I don't have wire hanging from the dashboard and getting hung up on the gear shift. I'm thinking the power source can be from the power seat circuit?
also thinking if it's inside the console cell phone can be put in the console and not be in plain sight. the bad thing, it will trap heat as we know, cell phones get quite warm when they're charging.

When installing the usb, add a small cooling fan, like the ones used in computer towers, to the inside of the console.

Im sure you know this but, usb is 5 volt not 12 so make sure you use step down converter.

I was under the impression the voltage change was done inside the receptacle but yes thank you for reminding me!

Yea those outlets have built in reducers, not all of them do though.
