So i went to get my truck aligned and i was told by les schwab that my upper ball joints were bad on both the left and the right side. THe front of the truck. THey quoted me 600 dollars to replace them and get a 50 dollar alignment. Is it just me or does this not sound right? Can you also answer one question. I plan on doing it my selft. If i replace the upper ball joints do i need to replace the control arm? i have a 1998 Ford Ranger 4x4

oh and ps.. if anyone has done this, how long does it take?

I just did mine not to long ago. It is pretty easy just try and put things back the way they where. IE mark things as you take them off.

Yes replace the upper control arms, get some moog control arms with ball joints. Should not take you more then a afternoon, depending how fast you turn wrenches while drinking :)

The upper control arm is replaced when replacing the balljoint.

Shouldn't take more than a couple hours to replace the upper control arms.

You will require an alignment afterwards, and maybe alignment eccentrics.

whats alignment escentrics? and Goog is what i was going to get. Do you know of any good place to get them? I cant seem to find one for the drivers side.
