Yep, possibly going from my currently illegally bald 235-75R15 tires to a set of 31's on rims. This is gonna be a good deal for me because then I can run the 31's for summer, and then put the current tires (good in front) back on for winter after investing in some studded snows.

Some things I need to know-
Will my truck become sluggish, slow, and a brick for going up hills etc?
How much will this effect my MPG?

Currently I'm running my truck bone stock, so I know they wont fit. But I'm going to level out the front with some washers up to about 1.5-2'', and then hopefully they will fit... right?

if u level out the front 31's will fit, u might have some mior rubbage up front, but nothing to really worry about

How is rubbing not something to worry about?

Even if it doesn't work out I have a plan. Put the 31's on the fullsize dodge, and put the dodges tires on the ranger. :icon_cheers:

the kinda rubbing u would have might be slight rubbin on the inner fender well, rubber on rubber, nothing to worry about, and as far as how the truck will feel, u wont notice too much of a difference with 31's a 235 measures at a about 28" tire, so, ur just addin prolly measured about 2" of tire, itll be a little bit more sluggish, but it will be well within tolerance, personally id pick them up, and test fit them before u do any lifting of the truck, u MIGHT be able to get away without doin anything more to the truck, and then just go from there on how much of a level u need up front....u can do 2" and still be within adjustment esp with the current cameber of ur wheels....

HAHAHA, I call bullsh*t! post you two letter/number code from your door tag under the "rear axle" part. If you have any of these the difference will not be to bad 96,97,98,f6,f7or f8. With code 96 and F6 depending on how aggressive the 31's are will determine how sad you are. If the tires are A/T's no real problem, if they are X/T or M/T 's you will notice a fair bit. I have 235x75x15 Michelin Ice X's for winter (goes great!) changed to 31x10.50x15 Michelin LTX A/T tires (half worn out) bit slower but not to bad. They did not do mud well so 31x10.50x15 BigO BigFoot X/T's replaced them and it felt like I had lost a cylinder. 1st and 2nd still pretty good but 3rd well , its ok 4th is my new overdrive on the freeway.

So from that I'm getting that me changing to 31's would be a bad idea?

there are plenty of other on here that have run 31's on your enigne and trans combo....and even BIGGER then that, some have run up to 35's but stick with 33's, yes its gonna be a bit more sluggish....but its a truck, ur not expecting balls to the walls accelration, each truck can be different.

since if u got them ud just put them on another vehicle if they didnt work for u, i say GET THEM, run them on the ranger and see if its bareable for u, if not switch them over and get the tires from the other vehicle, some people get used to the balls to the walls acceleration of a healthy 2.9 or 4.0 in stock form, ....

most likely u will be in the range for best mileage.....cause imm guess 3.73's in ur rear end
