Ok, So i went down to the nearest junkyark and I found 2 rangers that are 4wd. I want to rip it all off and bolt it to my truck. I have a 2003 Ranger edge 2wd. It's pretty much a 4wd but without the 4wd driveline. My question is: What all do i need to take off, and is will it bolt up straight to mine? Any other advise is strongly suggested.

Thanks guys!

its been done but a lot of workand expertese be easier to get a 4x4 frame and put your body on it but again a lota work be better just to save up and get a 4x4 ranger

on an edge it is a bolt on, it's not like the TTB/TIB stuff, I havent done it so I don't know all that's needed, sorry

I haven't done it, but you'll need the transmission, transfer case, both driveshafts, the front differential, front axleshafts, front hubs (maybe).

No idea what you would have to do to make the t-case electronics work.

Also, check that the donor truck gear ratio is the same as yours, otherwise you'll need the rear axle too.

That's what i was afraid of, swapping transmissions. And the electronic t-case might be a PITA. I appreciate the feedback though, I'm still debating on whether to trade for a 4wd or swap it over. I think trading for one is taking the lead in the decision making.

I would probably go ahead with the swap, but instead of the stock t-case, find a manual shift case from a 93-97 ranger.

Then again, I enjoy taking on major projects with my truck.

ive been looking into this because im gonna eventually convert my 2wd to 4x4 you will need to weld in a bracket that holds the front diff in place other than that everything else is bolt on there was a build thread on one of the ranger sites i cant find it right now but if i can find it ill pm you the link
