Update and wheeling pix

Here's another pic of the steering.

Nice & flat :icon_thumby:

I'm assuming no issues with the d-side tierod contacting the pitman arm?

Junkie, No inerference issues at all. I will be testing further this weekend to get all crossed up to make sure. The pitman arm is actually in front of the tierod so when it flexes up the tierod goes behind the drag link. Hard to see in that pic. but it works well. This is the first idea that Anthony had so we tried it. We had 3 backup plans but the first one seems to work so far. I forwarded him all the info you provided me and he worked on the stuff in CAD for about a week before I was able to make it to his shop. In the saddle is a high angle heim that has lots of motion, regular heims are on the knuckles and pitman arm. These are the same that he uses for the bigger trucks running one tons and such so they should hold up well as he has had zero failures returned to him.

OK it makes me glad that the setup has been run before with good results. I hadn't seen any like it before and to be honest I didn't expect it to work. Anthony's reasoning was that the y-link worked for Ford for many years so why not go off it but just improve it.
If it didn't work we could start over and do something else. I'll post up some more pix this weekend from windrock.

It's definitely plain & simple, there's no getting around that... And it seems to work too :icon_thumby:

Only thing with that setup is that the drag link side has to be good & sturdy so that it can withstand the driverside link pushing & pulling on it's middle like that without having it bend (guessing it'll already be made sturdy so it can withstand some punishment from bumping into rocks, so maybe you're already set with that).

Just got back off the mountain for a little test run. Nice and dry up there today, done most everything in 2wd. Snapped a couple pix as we were coming off Trail 15.

And here's the steering while in that position.

And before anyone says anything......I know we installed ALL the bolts upside down.

oops!

I'll swap 'em around this afternoon.

Very cool.

Looks like you need to grind out that beam window a little more though.

I never noticed it until you posted that. I checked it today and it has definitely been rubbing the beam. Oh well, put new ball joints in the 44 today. After the Bama Brawl this weekend, SAS will be started.

Last pic? Looks a lot like the setup Snowthrower made awhile back out of three passengerside stock links (welding the eye of one onto another, then the 3rd was the tierod to the driverside. Can't seem to find any past threads on it though... I wonder if it was before the big forum fiasco back in '07 and it all got lost :bawling: ). It worked excellent as far as keeping the suspension in check, but still had some bumpsteer because the pitman arm itself was still out of line from the axle pivots.

Joel to the rescue!! :D

That's the setup.

(dang, been awhile too. I remember the days when Cardomain used to plaster their logos all over your pics like that lol)
