I have a 2007 Ranger, 3.0, auto, 2wd with 61,000 miles on it.

When I drive down the road there is a slight grinding noise. When I turn to the left the noise increases, but when I turn to the right it goes away compleatly..

Is it the wheel bearings or ???

I'd be checking the wheel bearings for sure.

Lug bolts were good, next are the bearings. Starting with the passengerside as I've been told it's outside bearing in a turn that makes noise if they are bad.

Thanks...

Saturday I changed the wheel bearing on the passenger side. No difference in the noise. So I had a friend ride with me & he said it didn't sound like a bearing noise, but tire noise & it's nothing to worry about???

So here's the question again; when I drive in a straight line there is a small amount of this tire noise. When I turn l right it completely goes away. When I turn left it gets louder.

I had just rotated the tires & the lugs are tight. I double checked them.

Any ideas???

What kind of tire are your running? Mud terrrain? Brand, style?

Sometimes sqaure edged tires or gummy mud terrains make funny noises when turning (and even going straight alot of the time too).

I'd get some silicone lube spray and spray down each suspension joint at a time, until the noise goes away.

I'm running Uniroyal Laredo all season tires all the way around. Factory size, nothing more.

One thing I noticed is that when I went up over a bump in the road, was that when the front end went up the noise stopped. And then it was back when the front end was down again. This was at hi-way speeds, 65mph.

There is a slight vibration in the sterring wheel also when it makes this noise. I'll try the silicone spary this weekend...
