okay, i hear a lot and have recommended on occasion myself underdrive pulleys. heres the question, how much underdriving is necessary and how much is safe? i see 20% underdrive pulleys, i havent seen any more or any less, is there more or less available? finally, how much affect is there on alternator and water pump output when underdriving? dont want too much as it will affect these which isnt good, and are there smaller pulleys avaiable for the water pump and alternator so they will maintain the same speed or will that defeat the purpose of underdriving to begin w/? thanx for all replies.

for a 3.0 i think your stuck with 20 under. As far as larger pulleys for your alt, water pump etc. i dont think you will find them for a ranger. Ive seen them for 5.0 and 5.8s but thats about it. im not 100percent sure but i think the water pump pulley is the same on a 5.0? May be able to put a 5.0 overdrive on the water pump if your worried about it. that would cuase issues finding a belt though. I wouldnt worry about it. Put the crank pulley on and if you expeirence problems we can go from there.

You can order overdrive pullies for the alternator and such. stuffforyourranger.com has them.

interesting but if i install the oversize pulleys for the other components will it defeat the purpose of underdriving? granted i realize the purpose of using an underdrive pulley is using a smaller lighter harmonic balancer that will free up rpms and make it rev out quicker, but will renewing the other parts' wheelspeed affect the amount of power the underdrive originally produced by increasing drag on the pulleys? curiosity is itching again is why i ask. another thing, for the manual transmission is there an aluminum racing style flywheel that will reduce drag on the crank? i think that in conjunction w/ of the underdrive will make a hell of a difference, since im going to do a manual conversion w/ my trk i fig i would ask. anybody know about stronger clutches too since ill be around 300 hp w/ my trk too?

hey does a taurus sho 24 valve v6 have the same block as a standard 3.0? if so i may have found a fidanza flywheel for the 3.0 engine, ill keep digging in the meantime.

15psi boost on the 3.3 kit is what im going to do in the future, full 20 psi will yield 375 roughly per morana in an email to me, i have it posted in a few other posts. found a centerforce cf2 clutch available from the site itself and also offers a race style clutch for it, just have to see the numbers and how it would all go in. the fidanza taurus sho flywheel is the only option i even remotely see for it as nobody else has one available for it. i may talk to exedy l8r and see if theyll use my trk as a test trk for a race style clutch, but thats after i build the motor.
