so i went for an alignment a week or so ago, and i was told they couldn't do it because my upper right ball joint was shot, and the entire control arm needs to be replaced because it's all 1... is the moog uca really the best choice? i mean, what is so much better than it, over a stock replacement with a lifetime waranty? (which i can get for $30 more than the cheapest moog one i can find, inc shipping)

and second, how hard is it to replace a uca? i've never done one before... i do have more than basic mechanical abilities, and most of the tools i would need, including a small propane torch, a very pathetic impact gun, and lots of hand tools

yeah the moog is better for two reasons. better quality part and also, if you buy the moog problem solver UCA, it comes with a replacable ball joint so in case you ever have to replace the BJ, you wont have to replace the entire UCA again. moog makes a great product, worth the price.

hmmm, ok, looking into it here, it doesn't look like moog makes a problem saver for my truck (4wd with tortion bars)

ok, so they make a problem saver upper left side, the replacement ball joint for that fits the 2001-2004 upper right side also... but the upper right side problem saver, isn't listed for the 07... any thoughts?

should have made this call before last post, but oh well...

i called a parts store, they said they are the same oem part number... i shouldn't have any problem buying the moog uca for the 04, should i? no one sees any issues with this?

the pictures on rockauto.com look completely different...

no i dont see why it would be an issue. some of the right side UCA's are 2 peice, which is what i have but most people replace them with a one peice anyways so it wont matter.

take a look at the pics i edited in... they make me really worry... but then, i looked at the movtec ones for the 07, and they look like the 04 problem savers...

unless i'm missing something on how the problem saver bolts to the frame... it just doesn't look like it would bolt up the same...

sorry to be such a pain in the ass...

that is part of the 2 piece UCA i mentioned earlier. some years came with that style and other years didnt. i would search for a one peice right side UCA, it will look just like the left side, just a mirror image.

ok, i think i get it, i also did some googling, and that and another part (the part that connects that to the frame) gets shipped, but just for some reason, they didn't picture all the parts?

oh, i'm dumb... i follow you now... some trucks have 2 piece stock, some only come with the 1 piece... you are saying the 1 piece is a better design, and most people go from the 2 piece to the 1 piece... i don't know what the hell i read...

yes, thats exactly what i meant. im not good at putting my thoughts into words sometimes. lol

i don't think it was you not putting your thoughts together... i think it was me not reading words... i don't know...

simple answer is, they don't make a problem saver arm for my truck, being mine has the 1 piece... but it's a lifetime waranty either way...

ok, this problem is up again, i never did replace the ball joint, because i couldn't find play in it... though today, when i was changing the tired, i played around, and there is DEFFINETLY play in the upper ball joint on that one side...

are movtech and moog the same company? their pictures look a lot alike...

i've gotta order these parts in the next few days, as i've got a friend who can get some time in at school to do the uca and alignment for me for free, anyone able to give me the part number i want for the problem solvers?

or a better question, are ALL moog control arms, problem savers?

sorry to double (or triple post)

found these part numbers... does it matter which i use? will either one work?
