My caliper died. I have an automatic 1991 2.9 standard cab with an 84 inch bed. Trans side seems to be 1 1/16" and rear the same. Thing is they order by wheelbase and heck if I know!

Pretty sure it's a mog 280 just wanna confirm I can't pull it and take em in

Just measure from center hub to center hub and it should be 108" or 125" regardless of the box length. Maybe it's just me but I've never heard of a difference in wheelbase other than between single and extended cabs.

The above is a link to Rock Auto's website but you can navigate from the start if it doesn't give you the listing.

I'd buy two...just in case the "new does not mean good" applies here...because we never know what quality control measures have been used...my last one was MIC and it held up OK...but it wasn't 4x4 so not too much stress.

My last U-joint work was on the side of the road. The drive shaft just decided to take a break and I was about a mile away from the local CTC. I yanked the drive shaft off the rear end where it managed to hang itself up and carried it into the shop...they didn't have the part so I had to take a cab to the other side of town and back with the part and had them install the joint because it was -15 out and I really didn't want to do that job outside.

Walked back and put it in and drove home...

So...yes, you can do it that way...lol...

It's the 280, got em in. Rock auto list the wheel bases too. The 114 seems to be chimera. Good thing I did it tho. One cap had no bearings at all!

Good to hear...and I just learned something new...well, new to me...I see there were actually several different wheelbases depending on the year of production...

1983-1997 were pretty much the same with 108, 114, and 125 and 1998-2012 were the same with 111.6, 117.6, and 125.9...

I honestly don't remember ever seeing a long box Ranger in Canada...plenty of F150 long boxes because that is the most common tradesman pickup...

The different lengths are std cab shortbox, standard cab longbox and extended cab shortbox. They all have different wheel bases.

Yes, I see that now...but...I've never seen a Ranger longbox...in Ontario...I'm sure there is a few here but they are rarer than my having a good idea...:)

I have one in my garage. Had it for 16 years. :yahoo:

No wonder I can't find any...it's in your garage...:icon_rofl:

I did a search on my local Kijiji site...found about five long box caps for sale but no actual long box Rangers...it was just a test to see how many would show up but not surprised that none were available for sale...

Owned one for 13 years, they are somewhat rare though, extended cabs are the most common up here in the almost quebec portion of new york

You want a Canuck long box Ranger? '98 White/3.0/auto, sitting on sister in law's drive away here in Calgary.

I've got a spare box in garage too. (Spare box is red; "experienced" but no rust).

Hey Don,

A bit far for me to travel and, since it would be a regular cab, not suitable for my long leg(s). I had to buy an extended cab after driving my regular cab for two years because it was just too short. I know the 98 cabs are a few inches longer but that might not be enough.

Is your sister in law selling it or are you just saying that to make me want to drive all that way to see it??? Lol. I would love to have another Ranger even though the Dodge is doing everything I need and more...but I'm pretty much resigned to having an extended cab and probably need one with three or four doors to stow my walker/wheel chair when I need them.

I don't like the idea of putting a $3,000 wheelchair in the any vehicle and leaving it for any length of time...I've heard stories where people follow wheel chair patients around and steal their chairs so they can sell them or give them to relatives...mostly because they are absurdly over priced.

Actually, my niece solid it back to me after the transmission rear seal let go. Transmission is replaced, but I want to remove all the new parts (mainly the nearly new winter tires to my daughter's truck, before I unload it...)

Squirrel isn't quite what you're looking for - only 2 door s/c, but with long box (I watched kijiji for a couple years, and slow upgraded the box). (Always FlOoReD and I had discussion about welding frame when I swapped the rear sections).

I think I actually read a bit of that thread but my eyes glaze over when it gets to the point about welding or anything I can't currently do..hahaha...I did a bit of welding would love to have the equipment but I'm going to have to wait for that rich girlfriend...

So I guess it's not finished at this point?

I wonder if the OP knows his thread has been hijacked about six times today...lol
