My dilemma,

When im on and off the gas there is a lot (noticeable thunk and sound).

For example: When I leave it in 3rd gear, accelerate then decelerate, the moment i come off the thottle I can hear the transmission thunk.

Upon inspection, When I engage the clutch there is a quite a bit of axle wrapping. Furthermore, When I park the truck and leave it in gear, I can move the drive shaft with my hands 1/2" to 1".

The U-joints look fine. No noticible play...when i move the driveshaft with my hands they appear solid.

Any ideas? When i move the driveshaft back and forth all the sound is in the transmission. How much play is alright?

Any thoughts would be most wonderful...

THanks,

Maxwell.

the audible thunks sound like a bad u-joint to me. does the truck kind of vibrate or rumble a little bit when you're coasting at a higher speed?
