I have read through pretty much every thread and I can't find an answer to my question. I want to do the light upgrade you guys do in the dash because almost all of my bulbs are burnt out but I don't know which size bulbs to buy. So there's the question, what size are the bulbs in the gauge cluster? Also, are they the same size as the bulbs behind the A/C controls because i'll be replacing those too. How many will I need to do all of them? I was also looking to upgrade my headlight bulbs to the Silverstars. Will I have to do any kind of modifications other than pulling the bulb out and putting the new ones in? Does anyone have them at the moment? I've never done any light modifications before so this will be a first!

i just did all teh lights in my 98s dash and they were 197's i think, idk jsut ask any parts store tehy can check. if i can remember it was maybe 8 bulbs in all, for sure it was no more than 10 but sorry i ahve no idea bout teh a/c lights. my buddy ahs the silverstar ultra(nmost expensive and brightest) and theya re really brite, i got the sylvania extra vision and i like em, medium light output and moderate life. and no lol all you gotta do is take out teh old bulb and put teh new ones in with some bubl grease on em

Did you do the LED upgrade like in other threads or back to stock bulbs?

this should tell you what bulbs

its also in your owners manual and it should say how many there are as well.

as for the headlights, skip the silverstars and go for philips xtreme. brighter bulb but not bright enough to blind other drivers. and they are a really crisp white light that lights up everything. ive heard a lot of people say they last longer than sylvania lights too. only downside is most places dont carry them. had to get mine online but they were worth it. no matter what bulb you get though just be sure and not to touch the bulb itself with your bare hands.

after (a lot brighter in person too)

If I had an owners manual I would have looked. Damn truck didn't come with one!:annoyed:

As for the lights. I was worried about getting too bright a light because I don't want to be the cause of someone else's accident. Can you see wider and farther with those Phillips too or are the just about the same as stock just whiter?

thats the exact same thing i was worried about when getting them but after driving with them for awhile i was happy that they dont blind any others on the road. they are slightly wider than stock lights but no where near wide enough to where it blinds oncoming traffic. they toss light farther down the road but it isnt like driving with your brights on. they say they are the brightest street legal bulbs for non projector headlights.

with the dash bubls i jsut used the sylvania long life so basically stock, its very nice to see how fast im goin at night now. i didnt wanna do led cuz of the price, i changed all mine for under $5 whereas led wulda been bout $20 total. way too much for tiny bubls for me
