Two different Clutch sizes?

Sup guys. I'm going to be replacing the transmission in my 1995 Ford Ranger. It has a 2.3 with a 5 speed (M5OD). The transmission's life came to an abrupt ending with it refusing to come out of 4th gear (5th gear was sounding like a pissed off banshee too), so I had to burn the clutch a good amount to get it off the side of the road. I suppose it was only for about 50 feet, but if the transmission is going to be out, I might as well replace/resurface some parts while I'm in there.

First question: Oreilly's Auto Parts sells two different clutch sizes. A 9 1/8 Diameter Clutch and a 8 7/8 Diameter Clutch. However, I'm confused, because they both say 8 7/8 to begin with in the description but after that, one says its larger than the other. I think I'm just over thinking this, because AutoZone only offers the 8 7/8. Thanks guys.

You could check NAPA, LUK, Rock Auto and perhaps with the local Ford dealer.

In that case, why not contact the manufacturer to find out what's up?

Weird... How friendly are you with the sales people? Sometimes I've gotten them to order both, compare when they come in, and bought the one that matches my original. In fact, it was a clutch disk issue that they did it for me on lol. A different vehicle though...

one size is for the 3.0 and the 4cyl. the other one is for the 4.0... I can't remember which one is which, but if you look at NAPA's site, it lets you sort by engine type, and it will get you the right size.

I entered everything correct as far as engine/transmission type. I just think oreilly's goofed up on their website. I'm going to be calling the local Ford dealer to get this sorted out today. Hopefully I'll have time to call around to the junkyards, that I found decent transmissions at, and see if they still got em today. I'll let yall know what I find. Thanks

As far as I know, there's only two clutch disc sizes:

8-7/8" (all except 4.0L)
10" (4.0L)

I suspect it's a typo, since it does say 8-7/8" elsewhere in the description.
