well after much frustration of getting the truck to start, and the computer telling me nothing was wrong i had had enough and wanted to experiment. i had been looking over wiring diagrams and nothing was out of place. the only problem was lack of spark. the newer computers have the ignition in the computer itself while the older systems have a separate box and the only thing used to determine the ignition was the crankshaft sensor. so i decided to see how it would work if i hooked up the ignition box and tried running it with the newer system. it worked but only for a few seconds because it burned up the little amount of gas that was in the cylinders. since i wouldn't be able to get the injectors working i decided i might as well use the entire old system. the way it works now is that the newer computer still runs the gauges and fuel pump, while the other runs the engine. some of the wiring still needs to be cleaned up some but for the most part runs normal.

why didnt you just buy a new "new" computer? that way you dont have to deal with extra wiring and PCM placement...
