I hate the alarm that notifies you that the door is open..it makes doing some tasks annoying. Like today i was cleaning the truck with the door open and listening to music, but of course i had to figure something out because it was just soo annoying.

Usually there is just a push button that you can take out/disconnect from the door sill. But that isn't the case..
2000 ranger, RWD, extended cab.

u can do it by 2 ways.

1. unhook the dinger. its under the dash in the middle part. right above the ac controls.
doint it that way u will disable the lights On warning tho.

2. take out the steering column cover and unhook the little plastic clip(usually blue) on top of the ignition/key assembly. that way it wont ding when u have the key on, but will ding for the lights.

usually mines shuts up if u push the ignition up lol

you can also take out the actual "dinger" from the gem. That will eliminate the chime from your door, headlights, seat belt, key in iginition. everything. Take out your radio. The gem is the black box to the left (on my year). Open the box up and the "dinger" is the big black cylinder looking thing. use a soldering gun to loosen it up and just pop it out.

corrond: that would apply for 01+ trucks i believe. 00 and older still have a separate dinger, since it doesnt ding for the seatbelt

I will try this one tomorrow. Also..does anyone know what size gas tank i have? I filled up from above 1/4 and it took 35$!

look in your owners manual. it will have the specs. on older rangers i know, the gas tank size varies on engine/cab style/if you have more than one tank/ and etc.... it can tell you exactly.

the tank u have is larger than the reg cabs tank. i saw it on my users manual, but i dont have my truck near to check it again lol

Sadly, the owners manual is no where to be seen. I will google it and see what i can find.

Hmmmmm...a lot of criminals don't have a working door chimes....what are you really up to? ......lol

It's also nice to not have a door chime when hunting, don't want to spook any nearby prey.
